National Board Certified Media Specialist

Wenonah's Library, the focal point of the school, is centrally located on the third floor. Our mission is to provide information through technology and other media and to support Wenonah High School's curriculum objective "to educate all students to become contributing members of a global society".

The Library is open from 7:45 to 3:45 to staff and to everyone from 8:00 until 3:35. The Library operates on open scheduling and teachers are encouraged to sign up for usage of the main area, computer labs and equipment.

The Dragon Book Club meets in the library 7 times a year, once a month starting in September and ending in April.

Vision Statement

The Wenonah High School Library Media Program seeks to create a 21st century environment that promotes learning for all students by providing equitable access to information, teaching information literacy skills, and encouraging lifelong learning. The library media center strives to be a center of collaborative learning that produces creative students who have an appreciation of literature, critical thinking skills, and a respect for others and self.

Mission Statement

The mission of Wenonah High School Library is to provide students with the opportunity to become not only lifelong users of information, but also creators of information. The library will support the curriculum by collaborating with teachers, developing a collection that is representative of the community, and implementing literacy instruction for students.

Media Center Schedule

Hours and Rules

All school rules apply in the library.

  • Students working during a free period are not to use cell phones if they are a distraction to anybody else in the library, and they should be kept out of view and on silent if a class is working in the library.

  • Food and drinks are only allowed in the pit.

After School:

  • The library/media center is closed after school on Mondays and Fridays.

--with a teacher or student to receive tutoring

  • As such, students may only use the school computers for school work.  The computers are not available after school for gaming or entertainment.

Meet the Media Specialist

Mrs. Alisha M. Clark Jones

Mrs. Alisha M. Clark Jones

I am a product of Birmingham City Schools, attending Tuggle Elementary, Wilkerson Middle School and A. H. Parker High School.

I have previously worked as a Kindergarten Teacher, Second Grade Teacher and an Elementary Media Specialist.

The library is the hub of the school and I support the entire curriculum. I want students to become lifelong readers. One of the major focuses of the library is to prepare students to use the computer to search for books, research materials using Alabama Virtual Library, and safely use the Internet.

In the fall of each school year, students have an opportunity to apply to be a part of the “Readers on the Move”. “Readers on the Move” is a district-wide book club, affording students opportunities to interact with other students using books as the focal point.

I know that all students learn differently. If you would like to work together, mapping out a plan to help your child succeed, please stop by, email or call me.
