Welcome to Bush Hills STEAM Academy!

Bush Hills STEAM Academy is nestled in the historic Bush Hills community, located down the road from Birmingham Southern College and Legion Field Stadium. The building began construction in the Spring of 2009 as Bush Hills K-8 on the grounds at 900 16th Street West. In the summer of 2019, Birmingham City Schools re-purposed the building to become a STEAM middle school. The inaugural 2019-2020 school year was of one of incredible success, including a middle school football championship, iPad and Project-Based Learning initiatives, and a first class unified arts program. We offer a challenging academic curriculum, six unified arts options, and a wide range of extracurricular and leadership opportunities. Our dedicated staff takes pride in seeing our students change and grow through their middle school experience. As our students grow up and go off to high school, we are confident that we have done our part to foster the “leaders of tomorrow.”
