Meet the Librarian
Nakeatris K. Walker, Ed.S.
Library Media Specialist
Greetings everyone!
My name is Nakeatris Walker, and I am thrilled to be the Library Media Specialist at Huffman Middle School.
This marks my 8th year in the field of education and my very first year as a Library Media Specialist. I obtained my undergraduate degree (B.S. in Elementary Education) from the University of Montevallo in 2017. I then pursued a Master's in Elementary Education & Library Media from the University of West Alabama in 2019 and 2021. The culmination of my academic journey was marked by the attainment of my Ed.S degree from the University of West Alabama in December of 2023.
Over the past seven years, I have been responsible for teaching kindergarten and second grade. This allowed me to work closely with a diverse spectrum of students and their families.
I am a proud graduate of Avondale Elementary, Malachi Wilkerson Middle School, and P.D. Jackson-Olin High School. During my tenure as a library intern at the University of West Alabama, I had the privilege of working alongside Mrs. Susan Courington, who also happened to be my middle school librarian!
In addition to my passion for teaching and learning, I thoroughly enjoy traveling with my family and spending quality time with my beloved pet, Royal!
