Hello, Huffman Middle School Family!

My name is Dr. Jeffrey Willis, Sr. I am honored and excited to greet you as the principal at Huffman Middle School. My career in education began at Huffman Middle over 25 years ago as a science teacher. As my career progressed, I have served BCS in several capacities as a teacher, program specialist for middle school science, assistant principal, and principal. I earned my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification in Early Adolescence Science in 2007 while teaching at Huffman Middle School.

I am a product of Birmingham City Schools and a proud graduate of The Historic A. H. Parker High School. My college training includes a Ph.D. and an undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama, a master's in educational leadership from Alabama State University, and teaching certifications from The University of Alabama at Birmingham.

As principal of Huffman Middle School, I am excited to lead a learning institution in which we believe that our scholar’s future success starts today. I believe that when parents, the local school, and the community work together, our scholars are placed in the best position to be successful throughout their life. I invite all Huffman Middle School parents to maintain consistent communication with the faculty and staff at our school and become active participants in the academic and social development our students by joining the PTO, Parent Engagement meetings, Title 1 meetings, sporting events, music and arts events, and above all, academic competitions. My door remains open to meet with parents and other stakeholders to discuss ideas and concerns that benefit our scholars. Welcome to Huffman Middle School, home of The Vikings! Let the learning begin.
