Welcome!

My name is Tonya Allen.  I am the Librarian here at Minor Elementary.  I have worked in the Birmingham City School System for 25 years and counting.   It is truly a great place to work.  Prior to working here, I was the Librarian at Oliver Elementary School for several years. My first job was as a Kindergarten teacher at North Roebuck Elementary.   My passion is helping students find out new things.  I was educated in the Jefferson County Schools System and I later moved and graduated from Jess Lanier High in Bessemer, Alabama.  I attended and graduated from Samford University with a B.S. in Early/Elementary Education, Masters in Library Media Specialist from Alabama State University, and has an Ed.S in Library Media Specialist at the University of West Alabama. I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Alabama School Library Association (ASLA), and other groups as well.   I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two boys together, ages 22 and 16.  Minor Elementary is a great place to work and the students know that I love what I do and the students I teach!!!
