What is the Alabama Numeracy Act?
On April 5, 2022, the Alabama Numeracy Act was signed into law with the aim of enhancing math proficiency among K-5 grade students. The legislation calls for a careful monitoring of student progress from one grade level to the next to ensure that students achieve math proficiency before the end of fifth grade. In cases where students fail to attain grade level standards, a Summer School program may be suggested. BCS will track each student's progress from kindergarten onwards and inform parents about their child's progress.
