About Us

William James Christian K-8 School is a public school in the Birmingham City Schools system that is nestled in the Roebuck Springs neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. The school was built in 1961 and has continued to educate in excellence to the present day. W.J. Christian serves students in Pre-K through 8th Grade and delivers high quality, rigorous teaching and learning. It is comprised of two educational programs that offer a content-rich, and meticulous curriculum, in addition to several extra-curricular activities and clubs. The students in grades kindergarten through fifth attend our school based on the district's zoning guidelines, which includes several communities in the Roebuck and Huffman areas. The middle school portion of the school, consists of grades sixth through eighth. These students must apply and are selected based on their most recent state assessment scores and other pre-selection criteria. Once accepted and enrolled, each student is required to maintain a seventy percent average in all subject areas, maintain high standards of character, and complete a given amount of community service hours.
