Our State Superintendent, Dr. Eric Mackey endorsed EPIC for this prestigious award based on our 2023-2024 state data for academic excellence, attendance, and student growth. There are 115,171 charter, magnet, public, and private school across the U.S. and only 356 schools were recognized as 2024 National Blue Ribbon, which is less than 1% (0.003) of schools in the entire nation. To date, there are three schools in the Birmingham City School district that were recognized as NBRS: Bush Middle School (1984), EPIC Alternative Elementary School (1994), Ramsay High School (2013), and now EPIC for the second time, exactly 30 years to date. There are many other wonderful achievements in schools across the Birmingham City Schools district and our accomplishment is one that we’re extremely proud to spread throughout the entire district, county, state, and nation.
