Huffman's Jamiria Jones drives to the hoop in state semi-finals

Last season, the Huffman High School Lady Vikings settled for the second place red map trophy. Now, they have a chance to settle the score and secure the blue map.

Led by the dynamic duo of Tamiria and Jamiria Jones, fifth-ranked Huffman triumphed over the fourth-ranked Park Crossing Thunderbirds by a score of 63-56 in the Girls 6A State Semifinals on Wednesday at Legacy Arena in Birmingham.

The win set up a championship game rematch on Saturday against the top-ranked Hazel Green Trojans, who rallied back from a double-digit deficit to dispatch Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 52-38.

“We know what the goal is, and honestly, I feel like we are meant to be here," said Huffman Coach Lin Slater about the rematch. "The job is not finished. We know we are destined to be here."
