Huffman Middle School, Birmingham, AL - The halls of Huffman Middle School were buzzing with excitement on Tuesday, November 19th, as the school held its annual Spelling Bee. Organized by the dedicated Librarian, Ms. Nakeatris Walker, the competition saw students from 6th to 8th grade battle it out for the coveted title of Spelling Bee Champion.
The atmosphere was electric as students bravely took to the stage, displaying impressive spelling prowess. The competition was fierce, with the final rounds pushing participants to their limits. After a nail-biting 20 rounds, 6th grader Jayden Smith emerged victorious, claiming the title of Huffman Middle School Spelling Bee Champion! Jayden will now go on to represent HMS at the District Level Spelling Bee next semester.
Congratulations also go to Eryn Williams (6th grade) who secured 2nd place and Ayana Williams (8th grade) who achieved a well-deserved 3rd place.
"The Spelling Bee was a tremendous success," said Ms. Walker. "The students' dedication and hard work were truly inspiring. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the competition."
Walker expressed her gratitude to the English Department for their invaluable assistance in making the event possible. She also acknowledged the support from the entire school community, stating, "Thank you to everyone who helped and supported this event in any way; it was greatly appreciated."
