Arthur Harold Parker High School has been the cornerstone of education for more than 100 years.  It is with great honor and pride that the faculty, staff, and I enthusiastically continue the charge of preparing our high school students to be college and/or career ready upon completion of this academic journey.

A. H. Parker High School is known throughout the world for a long list of outstanding alumni from many fields of endeavor.  The school also has a storied history of excellence in academics, athletics, cultural and fine arts, and community involvement.  This history continues today as A. H. Parker High School’s students, faculty, staff, and alumni continue to leave their mark on this city, state, nation, and world.

As principal, my commitment is focused on teaching and learning.  I am committed to ensuring that all students reach their maximum potential through engaging lessons taught by skillful educators.

Biography

DARRELL HUDSON is a veteran educator who thinks all students can learn through hard work, determination and the right educational environment.  He is a student centered principal who enjoys interacting with young people and helping to provide a foundation for them to become productive citizens in our society and become lifelong learners. 

Before transferring to Parker, he served eleven years as principal of George Washington Carver High School for Health Professions, Engineering and Technology and principal for Bertram Hudson K-8 School which are both Birmingham City Schools.  Mr. Hudson has served as a classroom teacher, department chair and assistant principal in the Montgomery Public Schools District. He is a graduate of Alabama State University and Auburn University of Montgomery.

He is a faithful member of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church.  Mr. Hudson is also active with the Alabama State University National Alumni Chapter, Jefferson-Shelby County Chapter, where he serves as Vice- President, and he is an active member of Omega Psi Phi, Alpha Phi Chapter, where he serves as the Scholarship Chairman.

His accomplishments are attributed to the many dynamic students and hardworking faculty and staff who have worked with him over the years to improve the quality of education and increase student achievement for all students.

Principal's Goals

  1. Create a safe and orderly learning environment for all students

  2. Increase the graduation rate

  3. Increase # of students meeting ACT assessments benchmarks

  4. Ensure that all students are experiencing best and effective instructional practices

  5. Every graduate will be career and college ready
