Wylam Elementary School received an exciting addition to its learning environment today with the installation of three new math-focused murals and accompanying magnetic boards.
The math mural project originated from discussions about improving math proficiency at the school. Wylam Elementary had recently transitioned from full support to limited support due to improvements in math performance, and the school was looking for innovative ways to sustain and build upon this progress. The murals are designed to foster a strong math culture throughout the school and enhance mathematics proficiency across all grade levels.
This initiative was made possible through a partnership with Project Corporate Leadership (PCL), which works with schools to implement meaningful community service projects. The grant is highly competitive; Wylam was selected as one of only five projects from an initial pool of twenty proposals to receive support for a sustainable community initiative.
The new installations serve as both artistic additions to the school environment and practical learning tools that will benefit students for years to come.
