After Care Programs

On Monday, Aug. 8, Birmingham City Schools will offer after school care at 16 schools. Those schools are: 

  • Avondale 

  • Brown 

  • Central Park

  • Hemphill 

  • Huffman Academy 

  • Martha Gaskins 

  • Minor 

  • Oliver 

  • Oxmoor Valley 

  • Phillips Academy 

  • Princeton 

  • South Hampton 

  • Sun Valley 

  • Tuggle 

  • West End Academy 

  • W.J. Christian 

Here are a few things to know about the program: 

  • *After school care will run from 2:30 to 6 p.m. for pre-K and from 3 to 6 p.m. for K - 8th grade. 

  • * Applications will be available at participating schools. Applications will soon be available on the district's website. 

  • *The fee will be $40 a week. A multi-child discount will be offered to families with more than one child in the program. It will be $40 for the first child, $30 for the second child and $20 for each additional child. 

  • *Payment will be accepted in the form of cash or a money order. Money orders should be made out to Birmingham City Schools. 

  • *Online payments will also be accepted. A link will be provided soon. 

  • *For families needing to pay through Child Care Resources or another resource, for example, the district will accept such payments. 

  • *After school care will be provided for kindergarten through eighth grade at the 16 listed schools. 

  • *After school care will be provided for pre-K students, based on need. If you are a parent with a pre-K child at one of the 16 listed schools, please contact the Birmingham City Schools After School Care Office at 231-2371 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to let them know of your need. 

  • *Payments for after school care will be accepted by an after school care representative, at the school, between 3 and 6 p.m., each day. Payments are to be made weekly. However, advance payments will be accepted. No checks. 

  • *A parent with an after school care balance from the 2015-2016 school year, must pay off that balance before enrolling their child in after school care for the 2016-2017 school year. 

  • *A $10 late fee will be assessed for parents picking up a child after 6:15 p.m. An additional $10 will be added for every 15 minutes the parent is late. For example, if a parent does not pick up a child at 6:15 p.m., they will be charged $10. If the parent does not arrive until 6:30 p.m., another $10 will be charged. The parent must pay $20 in late fees that day. The late fee payment must be made when the parent picks up the child.  

  • *A variety of programs will be available to students in after school care. Some include tutoring, assistance in math and reading, recreation, arts and more. 

  • *Questions? Call the district's After School Care Office at 231-2371 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Refunds are not issued using eSchool Payments website.  All refunds must be issued by the school or school system central office.

-Information

Online-fee payment is offered as a convenience for our parents and students.  It is not a requirement, and if you choose you may pay fees in person at your school by cash or check, please contact Glendora Stephens 205-231-4600

-Instructions

The parent checks the boxes, selects the number purchased when multiple are allowed, and fills in the amount if it is not visible.  A receipt is generated and emailed to the purchaser.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), the information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

eSchool Payments does not provide any refunds of fees collected on the website.  All refunds will be provided by your school or School District based on their terms and conditions imposed by the School District.
