Today, members of the National Governors Association visited Charles A. Brown Elementary to learn about the school's successful turnaround.
Hailing from 27 states and territories, the visitors were escorted to various classrooms by student ambassadors. They also spent time teaching students about their home states! Derrick Billups, Birmingham Board of Education representative for District 4, accompanied the members during their visit.
The NGA representatives will use their findings to help advise other school districts on how to improve scholastic achievement at underperforming schools.
