Each month, the Birmingham Board of Education recognizes the employees who go above and beyond the call of duty to make the district a better place, even when no one is looking.
These employees are critical to establishing and maintaining a positive culture and a safe, secure, and nurturing learning environment. They inspire their colleagues and our students to pursue excellence, serve others, and collaborate effectively towards common goals.

Ms. Jackson provides phenomenal support in ensuring that our third grade teacher receives
supports to ensure our students are thriving virtually. She works diligently to communicate with stakeholders on various activities. Taking the initiative on big and small projects at VAL has been the norm for her. She is a phenomenal ARI coach who continues to grow and learn in her career as an educator. She is a major part of the VAL team who gets it done at all costs.

Over the past 7 months, Mrs. Etheridge has consistently gone above and beyond in her role, contributing significantly to the success of the students here at Jackson Olin High School.
Mrs. Etheridge consistently demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence and a positive attitude that inspires those around her. Her attention to detail, ability to meet tight deadlines, and willingness to take on new challenges have had a measurable impact on our school and counseling department's success and morale. She has shown outstanding leadership qualities, even in times of high pressure, and she is always ready to lend a helping hand to colleagues.
Mrs. Etheridge coordinated our Honors and Awards Day with excellence, she has supported
administration in ensuring that student schedules were corrected timely and accurately, pays attention to detail all while prioritizing student voice and choice in scheduling, academic, and social/emotional needs, and she has facilitated our student access to the dual enrollment program through Lawson State.
